While the scientific world is discovering the many different factors which go into determining how happy a person will be, throughout history we have been told by the greatest philosophers and religious leaders what to avoid in order to be happy. I’ve compiled what I consider the deadliest attacks on our happiness. These “sins” are so deadly that we often don’t notice we are falling into their trap until we wake up one day and wonder why we are glaring at ourselves in the mirror....
One of my favourite things about winter and the holiday season has to be settling down for a cozy evening of reading and hot chocolate. Patricia Conte of SheKnows has illustrated ten fantastic recipes you can use to spice up your hot chocolate. From orange and pumpkin spices to vegan and Irish options these are some recipes you are definitely going to want to try this winter! I am definitely going to be trying peppermint and Nutella ASAP!...
The Office is one of the few UK comedies to have not only been successfully remade in the US, but to take on a life of its own over the pond. While the original show only ran for two short seasons and a two-part Christmas special, its remake lasted 201 episodes and was hugely popular and successful, winning four Emmy awards and launching the careers of several stars as well as having a clear influence on other successful US comedies....
19 year-old Nico Calabria was born with one leg. Through a collection of home videos taken by his father we see his struggles and his perseverance to become a fantastic football (or soccer, for you ‘mericans) player. The Massachusetts native began playing for Carlisle-Concord High School in his freshman year. Nico is yet another example of how through perseverance we can do anything we set out minds to, regardless of our setbacks....
I’m quite sorry for the bait-and-switch that I just led you into. This post won’t really tell you what the “perfect” productivity app, suite of tools, or new service is. There are a lot of other articles out there that try to do that though – in fact, you can do a search for many of them right here at Lifehack. What we will be talking about today is the idea of creating your own “perfect” productivity system setup with the many tools that are at your disposal....
If you have a stressful job, you can really benefit from a desk plant since it will help to lower your stress levels – especially after completing a task. A few things you may not know about plants in the workplace is that they not only reduce absenteeism, but also help increase creativity and work speeds when it comes to computer tasks. The infographic doesn’t just stop at the benefits in an office environment, it also shows the power of plants in hospitals, schools and hotels....
So what is it about selfies that has so many of us taking photo after photo? You might be surprised to learn that taking selfies fits snugly—and sanely—into normal human psychology. We look at a person’s face first You’ve likely heard that as human beings we have a tendency to focus on people’s faces first when we meet them. In fact, we pay more attention to a person’s face than anything else about them—both online and off....
That’s what you tell yourself as you leave the office at 7 pm five days a week. But, will your boss notice? He might, but this will be a slow and painful process. Most companies won’t go out of their way to notice great employees. It’s up to you to toot your own horn the right way. I hate to break it to you. But, if you’ve worked at your position for over a year without a raise, you’re doing something wrong....
My heart is full, in love I don’t lack Being with you is like being on crack. Lovely. In this video from AsapSCIENCE we learn the science behind love; what drives it and why we love being in love so much. Sure it’s a little clinical, but even science can’t fully explain why we feel and experience love. The video also states that we all know love when we feel it, so I’m interested to know how you know you’re in love?...

We are all time wasters. That might seem like a harsh statement, but it’s almost impossible not to be when we’re chained to a desk for long, inflexible hours surrounded by multifold temptations to procrastinate. In Forbes last year, Cheryl Connor revealed that people who now admit to wasting time at work every day has reached a whopping 89% (up more than 20% than the year before), supplementing her argument with shocking statistics from a CareerBuilder Poll which blamed unsurprising suspects for the demise of hard work (social media, gossip, smoking, internet browsing, phone calls, etc....
It does not have anything to do with how many more books you read or how much better your productivity becomes. Instead, it’s the addition of what I consider to be the missing element in many people’s personal or business success planning. Too often, many folks try to educate themselves in the areas that they want to improve in. There’s nothing wrong with this, but where people often fall short is when they try to achieve their goals as solo efforts....
Inflammation is a big problem in today’s world. While inflammation does assist with the healing process if you suffer an acute injury, too much inflammation is not a good thing. You could be suffering from chronic levels of inflammation. This type of inflammation is very likely to lead to a whole host of diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and many others. By taking the time to learn which foods are most likely to cause inflammation in the body, you can ensure that you won’t be suffering....
Did you know there’s a dress code you need to follow even on a Skype interview? I once interviewed someone who wasn’t appropriately dressed for the interview and that first impression weighed-in on the final outcome too. We have a useful infographic by NextGeneration that provides the guide to Skype interviews. So, whether you’re an interviewer or an interviewee, keep these in mind to put your best foot forward!...
How relaxing would that be? No looming credit card payments. No stressful all-nighters to finish that project at work or school. No procrastination, even! Without a deadline, no one cares if you don’t get to it. You’ll always have the time later on. It feels so great to not have that stressful moment, right around the corner. When a deadline goes away, a huge weight lifts off my shoulders. In high school, my teachers occasionally gave us extensions on our due dates and everyone responded with a huge sigh of relief....
The Paravelo can be ridden like a regular bicycle and transforms into an “easy-to-operate aircraft.” No license is needed to ride or fly it, which gives practically everyone the freedom to operate one. The Paravelo can take off from any open space and reaches as high as 4,000 ft in the air. Plus, it travels at 15mph on land and 25mph in the air. So the question is: would you ride this flying bicycle?...

They are pure and genuine. They are not cheaters. Kids are our masters, we must learn from them. We should be more like kids. Today we can learn from them, just watch these kids in action. These are guidelines that will help you. Appropriate or inappropriate? Businesses have been sending out Christmas cards for a long time. Often, they were sent to promote a brand. When sent correctly, they can augment your brand. But there are errors that could be fatal, actually making your business look less favorable. Over the years some etiquette and “do’s” and “don’t’s” have been developed. A few items are controversial, but at least the following list of considerations will provide you with confidence that all of the bases have been covered....
