Surprisingly many people have no clue when it comes to diamonds, but they’re not as complicated as you might think. The main thing you need to know is ‘The Four C’s’: carat, clarity, colour and cut. And to help you do so, the folks at Antique Diamond Rings have put together this really handy infographic entitled ‘Diamonds Demystified”. They’ve taken a look at what each of the four C’s are, what they mean and why two diamonds of the same size can sometimes have wildly different values. Cut refers to how sparkly and brilliant the diamond is, colour obviously refers to the colour (or lack of), clarity refers to the imperfections of a diamond, and carat is a measure of the diamond’s weight (and the one you’re probably most familiar with). As you’ll see, there’s a quite a lot that goes into the valuation of a diamond, but once you’ve got your head around the basics, you’ll soon become a savvy shopper when it comes to these gorgeous stones and be sure to get the best possible price.
